Dan Hardy is an English mixed martial artist competing in the welterweight division. Competing professionally since 2004, Hardy competed in various promotions such as Cage Force and Cage Warriors before signing a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2008.
He is the current Cage Warriors light welterweight and welterweight champion.
Hardy had been training in Tae Kwon Do since he was six years old. Hardy began training because he wanted to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Hardy moved on when taekwondo went down the Olympic route. He wanted real fights which no longer existent when Tae Kwon Do became mostly a sport, so switched to Thai boxing instead. Hardy only became interested in Mixed Martial Arts after spending two months in China training with the Shaolin monks in 2002. Hardy came back to England and competed in amateur MMA tournaments until his professional debut in 2004.
Hardy has spent time training at Xtreme Couture. He received his Blue Belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu from Eddie Bravo.
After a unanimous decision victory over Mike Swick at UFC 105, Hardy was given a title shot vs. Georges St. Pierre. Hardy was unable to stop the champ's takedowns and lost a unanimous decision at UFC 111.
