taught me to stay patient. When I hit a bad shot in golf, I can't get all upset and throw my clubs around. I take that with me to the cage. When I step in the cage and I'm fighting I might slip and fall and end up on my back against the cage. I don't get discouraged. I know in my mind, I'm about to get up. When I'm ready to get up, I'll get up." The game has taught Guillard patience, but time and experience have taught him to become a professional and a stand up citizen.
"I know I used to be one of those hot headed kids, but when you do stuff like that and your boss finds out and calls you on your phone and says, 'Hey, I'm hearing things that you didn't bother to tell me,' I could still end up losing my job because I'm representing the UFC. So now I pride myself on being a guy of integrity. I'm an honorable young man. And it's not only just to the business, but to my family. So now when people here talk about Melvin, it's all good things and I'm proud of that."
