Alistair Overeem officially files for a fight license in Nevada in order to fight at UFC 146 on May 26 according to bloodyelbow.com.
Overeem is currently set to fight Junior dos Santos in the main event at UFC 146 but whether or not this fight will take place is unknown in light of his recent failed drug test. Overeem tested positive for elevated testosterone and is also set to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on April 24 regarding his failed drug test.
As previously reported, Overeem has the option to request a test be done on the B sample of his submitted urine to determine if the initial elevated testosterone levels found in the A sample were consistent but he has not done so at this time.
Overeem was given a conditional license by the NSAC to fight at UFC 141 against Brock Lesnar however it expired on January 31.
A fan favorite, Mark Hunt, is among the names put forth to replace Overeem in the scenario where he isn't granted his fight license thus being removed from his bout against dos Santos.
