UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, has high praise for Jon Jones since Silva believes no Brazilian fighter can dethrone the light heavyweight champion according to mmamania.com.
"I don't see any Brazilian in conditions to face him, even more so because Brazilians don't tend to completely study what happens in there, there needs to be more studying done by the Brazilians in that division so that they can understand what really is going on in there," Silva said.
Jones has defeated two of the UFC's top Brazilian fighters in his recent fights, Mauricio Rua and Lyoto Machida. Jones TKO'ed Rua in the third round at UFC 128 to win the light heavyweight strap and choked out Machida in his last bout, at UFC 140, to retain his title.
"But it's hard for me to say this, because I'm Brazilian and I wish there was a Brazilian with the conditions to beat Jon Jones, but, this is a personal opinion of mine, I don't see anyone in Brazil that can beat him, at least not for now," Silva said.
Standing 6 '4 and sporting a 84.5 inch reach, Silva says Jones utilizes his frame very well and praises his ability to dictate the fight. For Jones, he currently awaits his next opponent which will be determined by the Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis matchup scheduled for UFC on Fox 2. If Evans is victorious, he will get a shot at Jones' title. However a win for Davis does not guarantee him a title shot and a Dan Henderson vs. Jones bout is more likely.
