Despite all the fanfare and support, Dana White says that Mark Hunt will not fight Junior dos Santos at UFC 146 no matter how Overeem's failed drug test plays out according to mmamania.com.
"They can keep rallying. It ain't going to happen," White said.
White went on to say that Hunt might be matched up with a top five heavyweight if he can get pass his original opponent, Stefan Struve, at UFC 146.
With a three fight win streak to rebound from a six straight losses, Hunt practically wrote himself a Rocky-like comeback that was just missing a title shot.
When Overeem failed his drug test earlier this month and placed the main event at UFC 146 in jeopardy, Hunt was among the names put forth as the man to replace him. Social networking such as Twitter was flooded with MMA fans supporting a fight between Hunt and dos Santos.
Well it is apparent now that Hunt won't be receiving the title shot regardless of how the Overeem fiasco turns out but if he is able to keep his win streak going, Hunt could very well meet dos Santos down the road.
