George St. Pierre targets a November return

UFC welterweight champion, George St. Pierre, aims for a November return according to an interview with Inside MMA.

"Hard training will be in July, and fighting again for the timing to get back I would say in November, I can come back in November," St. Pierre said.

St. Pierre is currently recovering from a surgery that repaired an ACL torn suffered in training. As for the welterweight division, Nick Diaz will be fighting Carlos Condit at UFC 143 for the interim welterweight title until St. Pierre returns from his absence. Due to the date of his return, the winner of the Diaz and Condit matchup is likely to defend their interim title once before they meet St. Pierre.

"Just do what you do man, just rehab and take it easy...I tried to rush back into it and when you do that you just prolong the initial injury. So I had to sit back down and really take my time and listen to my body," Phil Davis, who suffered a knee injury of his own prior to UFC 133, said when offering advice to St. Pierre.

St. Pierre's last bout was against Jake Shields at UFC 129, St. Pierre defended his title for the sixth consecutive time with a unanimous decision victory. That event was in late April of 2011 and if St. Pierre returns in November 2012, he will be coming off of a nearly 18 month's layoff.
