Overeem, who currently trains with the Blackzilians camp in South Florida, was a long time member of the Golden Glory fight camp based in the Netherlands.
During his time with the team, Overeem became the Strikeforce, Dream, and K-1 champion, however, in 2011, following the UFC's release of all Golden Glory fighters over a policy issue regarding the way fighters are payed, Overeem left the Netherlands-based camp over what he termed, "a breach of trust."
Overeem then sued the camp for $151,000, which he believed the camp owed him in back pay. Consequently, Golden Glory counter-sued Overeem stating that he never paid the camp its 30-percent commission following his victory over Fabricio Werdum at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum.
The two parties would later settle out of court for an undisclosed sum.
