Marius Zaromskis eats eleven unanswered punches; late stoppage comes under question
by Alfredo Reyes on October 26, 2012

Bellator welterweight Marius Zaromskis faced off today against Russian superstar Andrey Korenshkov at Bellator 78.

The event featured the Bellator season seven welterweight semifinals, and aired live from the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.

Zaromskis (19-6) came into the bout with an impressive 5-fight winning streak which contained victories over Eji Ishikawa, Bruno Carvalho, Waachim Spiritwolf x2, and Nordine Taleb.

His opponent, Korenshkov (12-0), came into the bout undefeated and had finished all his previous opponents with the exception of his last Bellator bout against Jordan Smith which went the distance.

The two came out guns blazing and immediately started trading punches in the middle of the cage. Eventually, Korenshov dropped Zaromskis with a powerful punch against the fence and quickly rushed the badly wounded Zaromskis, finishing him with brutal ground-and-pound and earning his twelfth consecutive MMA victory.

However, the ending of the fight was brutal indeed as an unconscious Zaromskis was hit with punch after punch before the fight was called. On the commentary, Bellator announcer Jimmy Smith shouted over and over, "He is out, he is out," as the referee watched Zaromskis repeatedly hit in the face.

In total Zaromskis ate eleven unanswered punches after being dropped.
