Rising prospect Rousimar Palhares off UFC 101 fight card
by Jacob Camargo on May 08, 2009

Brazilian Top Team fighter Rousimar Palhares is out of a scheduled bout against American Top Team fighter Alessio Sakara at UFC 101 due to a fractured tibia he suffered while training. Its not yet known who might replace Palhares, or if Sakara will even remain on the fight card.

Rousimar Palhares (9-2), is coming off a win over experienced veteran Jeremy Horn at UFC 93. Prior to his win over Horn, Palhares lost to Dan Henderson at UFC 88 after opening his UFC career with a win over the recently retired Ivan Salaverry at UFC 84.

Alessio Sakara (13-7) holds an even 4-4 UFC record. He's coming off a win over Joe Vedepo at UFN 15. Sakara was originally suppose to fight at UFC Fight Night 17 in February but an injury knocked him off of that card.

UFC 101 takes place on August 8 in Philadelphia and the main event of the evening features a lightweight title bout between current champ BJ Penn and top contender Kenny Florian. In the co-main event, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will return to the light-heavyweight division to fight Forrest Griffin.
