The news came in this morning of Sam Stout, a longtime UFC Lightweight contender, pulling out of his UFC 137 bout with Dennis Siver. The reason for Stout's withdrawal has not yet been made public. The simple assumption is that the tragic death of Stout's trainer and best friend, Shawn Tompkins , has been too devastating for Stout to focus on fighting.
Always a scrappy fighter, and always up to fight anyone, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone will be taking his place. According to sources close to the fighter this new match up is a done deal. This fight will be the second out of Cerrone's last three fights that he has taken on short notice to help Zuffa.
Cerrone is now 3-0 in the UFC since coming over from the WEC. His style has been one of constant excitement, win or lose. In his last outing, Cerrone made quick work of the up and coming prospect Charles Oliveira via (t)KO in the first round.
Dennis Siver is looking to make it 5 UFC wins in a row when he faces Cerrone at the end of October in Las Vegas.
