The WEC on Thursday announced two new bouts for its WEC 47 event in March, as Ricardo Lamas will face WEC newcomer Bendy Casimir in a lightweight bout and Deividas Taurosevicius will meet L.C. Davis in a featherweight bout.
Lamas (7-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over James Krause at WEC 44 in November. Prior to the win, he suffered his first career loss to Danny Castillo at WEC 42 in August. Lamas sports a 2-1 WEC record, scoring a upset win over Bart Palaszewski at WEC 39 in March.
Casimir (19-5-2) is 15-1 in his last 16 bouts, but hasn't fought since picking up his third straight win over Maratbek Kalabekov at ProFC: "Russia vs. Europe" in March. His only loss during the stretch came against Takashi Nakakura in November 2008.
During his over eight-year career, Casimir has competed for other notable promotions such as Shooto, M-1, Cage Wars and UK's Cage Warriors Fighting Championships. He has finished 15 of his 19 career wins, including 12 by submission, and holds a notable career win over current UFC lightweight Andre Winner.
Davis (15-2) is currently on a two fight winning streak, scoring wins in his first two WEC fights against Javier Vazquez at WEC 42 and Diego Nunes at WEC 44. He previously suffered just his second career loss against Michihiro Omigawa at Sengoku 7. The Titan Fighting Championships, Affliction and IFL veteran has finished 11 of his 15 career wins and holds notable career victories over Conor Heun, Rafael Dias and Bao Quach.
Taurosevicius (12-3) has also won his last two bouts, picking up wins in his first two WEC fights over Javier Vazquez and most recently Mackens Semerzier at WEC 46 on Jan. 10. The seven-year veteran has competed for other notable promotions such as IFL, Reality Fighting, and Cage Fury Fighting Championships. He holds other notable career wins over the likes of Anthony Morrison, Dan Lauzon and Bart Palaszewski.
WEC 47 takes place on March 6 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and will be headlined by a WEC bantamweight title bout between current champion Brian Bowles and challenger Dominick Cruz.
In addition, former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres returns against rising contender Joseph Benavidez and former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver will return to face Javier Vazquez.
