UFC strikes a broadcast deal with MSM allowing UFC programing in India
by Hubert Lau on April 05, 2012

The UFC finalized a four year TV deal with  Multi Screen Media (MSM) which will allow UFC programming in India according to mmajunkie.com.

MSM's sports channel, SIX, will be providing Indian MMA fans with live UFC events, tapped fights and TV specials, such as UFC countdown.

"When we went to India over a year ago, I felt the market held enormous potential for the UFC," Zuffa CEO, Lorenzo Fertitta, said.

Enormous potential indeed, more than half of India's 1.2 billion population is younger than 25 years of age.

MMA has already seen a rise in the country with their local promotion, Super Fight League debuting in March earlier this year.

The UFC already has plans for future UFC events to be held in the country as well as an Indian-based Ultimate Fighter season similar to the current Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

"I've been saying for a few years that India would be next, and it was just a matter of finding the right partner in the market," UFC president, Dana White, said.
