WEC 42: "Torres vs. Bowles" is ready to go after all fighters, with the exception of one, made weight yesterday from the Body English at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

WEC 42 takes place tonight, August 9, at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event's main card will be broadcast live on the Versus network beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The event is headlined by a WEC bantamweight title bout between current champion Miguel Torres and top contender Brian Bowles. Both Torres and Bowles weighed in at 134 lbs. In the event's co-headliner, Joseph Benavidez and Dominick Cruz will meet in what could be a number-one bantamweight contender fight with the winner possibly in line for a shot at the winner of the Torres-Bowles fight. Both men tipped the scales at 135 lbs.

Other match-ups on the main card include Danny Castillo vs. Ricardo Lamas in lightweight action and bantamweights Jeff Curran vs. Takeya Mizugaki . Some undercard bouts of note include an Affliction: "Trilogy" canceled lightweight bout, L.C. Davis vs. Javier Vazquez, and former WEC featherweight title contender Leonard Garcia taking on Jameel Massouh.

One incident of note, at the weigh-in ceremony former WEC lightweight title contender Marcus Hicks failed to make the 156-pound lightweight limit for his preliminary card bout against Shane Roller. Hicks came in at 159 pounds in his only attempt to make weight. Both camps agreed to accept the fight at the catchweight, but Hicks will have to forfeit 15 percent of his purse to Roller.
